for three violins – 2012 – 3′

This short piece was a study on proportional recursive form segmentation. Written during my year in Tallinn, I had to compose it in one single evening-and-night after the teacher reminded me of the classroom concert we had the day after. I gathered three of my violinist friends over there and promissed to write something wasy to read.

To that end I mostly use open strings all through the piece, in which gestures fly from player to player in a series of succeeding sections which describe a sort of arch form in terms of pitch by departing and returning to the same string configuration. Days before I had listened to a concert featuring music for strings by Xenakis, which I imagine influenced my forceful opening gesture.
