Five unison études

for recorder, and voice and recorder – 2018 – X’

The idea of different ways of «being together» is what triggered the compositon of these five études. The relationship between the voice and the recorder had been for years an ongoing project together with the singer and recorder player Irene Sorozábal. For her, and for the tenor-countertenor Georgi Sztojanov I wrote these five situations in which the voice and the recorder are given in different ways the (sometimes evasive) opportunity to merge with each other, to mask and be masked, to come together and drift appart.

These five études were developed as part of the collaborative music theater project Vulnus, commissioned by the Gaudeamus Foundation for the Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2018.
